Here’s how to use the PS4 Remote Play feature to stream and play PS4 games onto your Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact.
The Remote Play feature isn’t a new feature, it has been available on Xperia phones since the Z3 series and now you can enjoy your favorite PS4 game on your mobile phone. Sony recently released the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact in U.S but didn’t emphasis much on the Remote Play feature.
Imagine you’re laying around in your room, and decide to play a game on your PlayStation 4, but you don’t want to walk all the way to the living room. You can simply launch the Remote Play app on your Z5 or Z5 compact and start streaming your favorite PS4 game.
To play the game, you could use the touchscreen on your Z5 or Z5 compact, or you could connect it to the DualShock 4 controller. A separate Game Control Mount is required to mount your phone to the controller.
Of course, the graphics won’t be as good and it will be scaled down, but you can still enjoy a full console game on your mobile device. PS4 games such as GTA V, Last of the US and several others will work fine with Remote Play.
Here’s how to setup and use PS4 Remote Play on Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact:
Before you begin, make sure both the PS4 and your smartphone are on the same WiFi network. Once you’ve done that, download the PS4 Remote Play app from the Play Store.
- On your PS4, head over to Remote Play Connection Settings and select ‘Add Device’.
- You’ll now be provided a code to be used while pairing with the smartphone
- Pair the DualShock 4 controller to your Xperia Z5 using the Remote Play app.
- Tap Next on the app and wait for the Z5 to connect with the PS4.
If it doesn’t connect, then you can tap on Skip and use the code provided in the beginning to connect. That’s about it. You can now stream and play PS4 games on your Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact using PS4 Remote Play.
