QNX showcased a new concept car at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas based around a Maserati Quattroporte GTS. As part of the promotion behind this stunning vehicle, they released a video on YouTube that spotlights their process behind the creating of this vehicle.
You can watch the short video above to see the designers and engineers explain their thought process in creating the vehicle, as well as why they went with the features that they did.
ADAS, or advanced driver assistant systems, is widely being regarded as the next leap in technology, and QNX is leading the charge with some pretty fantastic features in what they have to offer. John Wall, VP of Engineering and Engineering Services at QNX, stated, “We would give the customer a platform they could personalize and make their own and try to get the OEM to market years sooner. The concept vehicles are to show, from one year to the next, how different the system can look, how different the personality can be completely different from the previous car.”
If you’ve seen some of the concept cars from years past, you’ll notice how much they’ve improved. New features are thrown in that not only innovate the driving experience, but also make it a safer one.
One example of this is changing all the mirrors into screens that project the views of different cameras. Wall believes this will virtually eliminate blind spots and make driving that much safer for customers.
