Recycle iPhone with Apple Renew Program
Apple Renew: Recycle Your Old iPhones and other Apple Devices

Apple’s Old iPhone Recycling Plan

While the Apple Event last week was mostly about the Apple iPhone SE, the event started off with Apple’s recycling plan.

Apple introduced Liam, their R&D project, conceived and designed by engineers at Apple, California. Liam is capable of deconstructing the Apple iPhone and other Apple devices so that materials inside them can be reused.

There are now more than 1 billion Apple devices around the world, and considering you’re here reading this, we can safely assume you own at least one of them.

You love your iPhone but what happens when it can no longer be used?

If you want to make sure your Apple iPhone doesn’t end up in garbage dumps and landfills, then it has to be recycled.

Apple Renew

Apple renew is a project that recycles all your Apple devices easily and quickly, in a way that’s safe for your data and good for the environment.

When you send over your iPhone, Liam will work on it, rescuing lithium from the battery, separating the copper from the camera, extracting silver from the motherboard, and you’re making sure your Apple iPhone lives on.

The materials thus extracted, will be used in the creation of a variety of products, including solar panels. Apple’s future plans include using these recycled materials in their own products.

Old iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macs and even PCs – Apple takes them all.

Once you choose the device you want to recycle, you’ll be asked a few questions to establish the model and the condition of your Apple device. Based on that, Apple will give you a price.

This is only for those that intend to remain with Apple devices, as you will be paid in the form of an Apple Gift Card.

Here’s the worth of the Apple Gift Card you will receive for your Apple iPhone

  • iPhone 6 Plus: $300
  • iPhone 6: $250
  • iPhone 5s: $150
  • iPhone 5c: $100
