A while back we told you about some rumors of RIM laying off part of its workforce resulting in 2,000 jobs. This has now been confirmed by RIM saying this is part of their strategy for reducing $1 billion in operating expenses. The rumors said they would cut 12% of its workforce, which would equal 2,000 jobs, but analysts expect a cut of up to 3,000. Other sources say they could reach 6,000 jobs, though we really hope that is not the case. It’s sad to see people lose their jobs, but all these changes are part of a greater good for RIM.
