Previously, there was an industry rumor that Research In Motion was working to acquire Gist. Today, Alan Brenner, SVP, BlackBerry Platform at RIM, announced on the Inside BlackBerry blog:

“Today we are pleased to announce that Gist has joined Research In Motion® (RIM®). We’re excited that the Gist team is joining RIM and bringing their expertise in providing customers with a contextualized, streamlined, and consolidated view of information about their contacts to the BlackBerry platform.

Gist helps users to automatically create and maintain a rich contact profile for everyone in their network. Find out more about Gist on the Gist Blog!”

Gist creates profiles of people from your business network by collecting publicly available information from sources like Rapleaf. The profile data is available every time someone sends an e-mail. It is going to be very interesting to see how Gist and TAT work together.
