Earlier today, a report came out from BGR that the WiFi-only BlackBerry PlayBook had been discontinued. As you can imagine, the rumor started its rounds across the interwebs and people began yelling in frustration at RIM. The rumor was associated to analyst Mike Abramsky, who regularly follows and checks RIM. Abramsky is noted as suggesting that the WiFi-only PlayBook production may have slowed since all sales channels have been filled. RIM has since responded to BGR on Twitter to announce that they have not canned the WiFi-only PlayBook. However, RIM did not mention slowing the production down. We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds.
