Research in Motion has just announced the Q2 Fiscal 2012 earning results, which show they shipped 10.6 million BlackBerry smartphones and 200,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. The revenue for the quarter was $4.2 billion, 15% down from previous quarter, and service revenue was over $1 billion for the first time.

RIM also notes that they expect BlackBerry smartphone shipments in Q3 to grow between 27-37% over Q2. Let’s hope RIM does better next quarter now that it released all the new BlackBerry OS7 smartphones.
