R.I.P. RIMM on February 4th

During the BlackBerry 10 launch event it was announced that Research In Motion would be formally changed to BlackBerry. Things have begun to be changed to the new moniker.

On February 4th, 2013 Research In Motion will officially cease to exist as a company on the Toronto Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. RIMM will be changed to “BBRY” on NASDAQ and “BB” on TSX.

However,¬†shareholders will still have to vote for the official change at the Company’s Annual General Meeting later this year. R.I.P. Research In Motion, hello BlackBerry.

It is a change that has been a long time coming. Do you think it was a smart move by the company?
