Samsung has officially announced their fifth generation Galaxy Note smartphone, the Note 5, and are also unveiling the large Galaxy S6 edge +. Both of these devices represent Samsung’s belief in the stronghold they posses on the phablet segment. Something they hope continues in 2015.

Galaxy Note 5

The Note series is retaining its famous large display for its fifth generation device. The Note 5 features a beautiful 5.7-inch Quad HD display (518ppi), a 16 MP camera on the back, 5 MP camera on the front. Internally, the Note 5 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chip with 4GB of RAM. It also features a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, and has no option for expandable memory. It’ll be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.

Galaxy S6 edge +

This new device is pretty much just a big S6 edge. The S6 edge+ features a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with the same 16MP camera on the back and 5MP camera on the front. 4GB of RAM is also included in the Edge + along with that non-removable 3,000 mAh battery. It’ll also be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be available globally starting on Aug. 21 and, in the U.S., through Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular.
