A leaked information by Samsung nearly confirmed what we were speculating for a while. Samsung is bringing Bixby, its new voice assistant to the Galaxy S8. The Korean company accidentally showed that the Galaxy S8 Bixby will be a reality. While promoting Samsung Pay, Samsung showed on its website a picture showing the three options for paying for goods. Those are “shopping, mini, and Bixby”. This nearly confirms that Galaxy S8 Bixby will be a reality. But let’s break it down, what Bixby actually is.

What you get on Galaxy S8 Bixby

Bixby appeared as part of promotion for Samsung Pay. But the new virtual assistant on the S8 will be much more than that. Bixby is a voice-powered assistant that will be used for all first-party applications by Samsung. Those include Samsung web browser, PIM software, and of course, Samsung Pay.

There is still no clear confirmation that Bixby will make its way to the S8. After all, this was general Samsung promotion, not an S8 precise. However, it is a feature that is worth to be included in the promotional package by Samsung.Previous Samsung flagships and devices supported voice interaction thanks to S Voice. We only have to wait and see how Galaxy S8 Bixby will work alongside Google Assistant.

Release Date Rumors

Bixby is not the only new rumor regarding the Galaxy S8. We also have some new reports regarding the release date of the upcoming flagship. Previously, there were reports that Samsung will skip the Mobile World Congress and launch the S8 on its own event.

However, there is still a possibility that Samsung will showcase the Galaxy S8 at the event, a month or two ahead of the actual release date.

As for the release date, the latest report is April 18th, which is much later than previous flagships. Just a reminder, Samsung released the Galaxy S7 on March 11. And we know for sure that Samsung has ordered much more handsets, just so the company can compensate for the Note 7 disaster.
