Along with its new devices, Samsung also officially announced Samsung Pay availability in the U.S. The Korean giant will be launching its NFC payment system in its home country first on August 20th and will follow suit in the U.S. on September 28th.

Samsung hopes to differ itself from Apple Pay by not solely relying on NFC for purchases. Samsung’s acquisition of LoopPay earlier this year allow its new payment service to support both MST and NFC transactions. This could mean Samsung Pay could potentially be supported in more than 30 million merchant locations throughout the world without needing any additional support from them.

Samsung has locked down several key partners including Visa and MasterCard with others like American Express pledging support in the near future.

Samsung Pay will work on the company’s latest phones which include the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Note 5 and edge +.
