Samsung hasn’t been able to move as many Galaxy S6 smartphones as they had hoped. The company will more likely lower the price of both the S6 and S6 edge to ramp up sales in the coming weeks, so if you’re thinking about picking one up, you may want to wait until this occurs.
Samsung hasn’t specified how much of a price cut its flagship devices will receive, but they did state in their latest earnings call they’d be “adjusting” the cost going forward. Right now, the S6 is available for roughly $699 off-contract, with its edge twin being $100 more. If Samsung really wants to get these devices into more people’s hands, they had to discount at least $100 off each.
In the call, Samsung also teased new “premium smartphone models,” likely referring to the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Both of these rumored devices are slated to be announced in New York next month.
