Secusmart, Samsung and IBM are going to be introducing a device these three companies have been working together on that is being touted as “highly secure.” The news comes out of CeBIT 2015, which takes place March 16-20 in Hannover, Germany via a press release sent out by Secusmart today.
While Secusmart is owned by BlackBerry, the latter’s branding or name is not found in the information provided in the release which makes this announcement a little strange to say the least. It’s possible this device has been in the making for quite sometime – maybe even before BlackBerry acquired the company – and time has finally come for it be released.
As Bla1ze from CrackBerry noted, Secusmart did issue a press release earlier which mentioned ‘the Secusmart Security Card, already known for being used in the SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10 high-security solution, is once again at the heart of the new development.’ So at least they’re not completely ignoring the fact that BlackBerry kind of bought them last year and has worked with them throughout these last months.
In terms of hardware, details are still pretty vague in terms of what this device could be. For all we know, it could be a tablet, or something completely out of left field that doesn’t even have to do with smartphones. On the other hand, it could totally be an Android-powered device that includes some of Secusmart’s technologies, and features Samsung’s Knox capabilities.
Either way, we should find out more details this Saturday, and we’ll make sure to keep you all informed as soon as we know.
