T-Mobile Steps Up With 4G LTE, New Pricing, and new 4G Smartphones

Today, US carrier T-Mobile has outlined its strategy to appeal to customers looking for an alternate to Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. InterDigital and Research In Motion Extend Patent License and Include 4G

RIM announced today a revision to their license agreement with InterDigital. The revision was made to include coverage for 4G products, including LTE devices. There currently aren’t any LTE devices beside the 4G PlayBook, but with the release of the upcoming BlackBery 10 smartphones this was a much needed revision. Check out the press release below.

4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1.0.1088 Now Available

Originally, the update was supposed to release sometime back in early November. For whatever the reason, carriers felt they should hold it for a few weeks more. Nonetheless, OS 2.1.0.1088 is finally available for the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook.

The OS 2.1.0.1088 brings similar updates as the WiFi version recieved:

Allows PIM (Messages, Calendar, Contacts) to be viewed in portrait orientation PIM – Deep Folder Hierarchy. 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 Update Now Available

When RIM rolled out OS 2.1 for the BlackBerry PlayBook, it was not available for the 4G LTE PlayBook. However, it appears that OS 2.1 is now available.

OS 2.1.0.1088 is now available through Telus, Rogers, and Bell. Users can begin hitting the “check for update” button to download. The changelog is the same as Wi-Fi version:
