The BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ has recently released in the UK. Unlike the 4G PlayBook available in Canada, which features LTE capability, the 3G+ features 42Mbps HSPA+ connectivity.
A 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 32GB worth of storage space, and eventually NFC capabilities are also present in the 3G+ model. Does this revamped PlayBook model spark an interest to buy one? The PlayBook 3G+ can be ordered from either Insight UK or Misco UK, which have it listed for sale for £415 and £425, respectively.

If there was any indication that carriers have been testing the BlackBerry PlayBook, whether it be 3G or 4G model is unknown, this is a pretty good sign. RIM still has yet to fix this, but should you go to App World on the PlayBook you’ll see a Verizon Wireless Store tab. Clicking on it leads you to a blank page. Nonetheless, we can likely expect to see the PlayBook and BlackBerry 10 devices hit Big Red sometime in the near future.

UPDATE – The LTE BlackBerry PlayBook has now also shown up at the FCC. The filing shows the LTE PlayBook has support for AT&T or any of the three big carriers in Canada.
We previously told you that the 3G+ BlackBerry PlayBook was currently in production and still pegged for an April release. New documents from the FCC show it has successfully passed through the approval process.
The FCC filing only proves the tablet will have built-in HSPA+ connectivity. No further details were revealed to show if it has a 1.5GHz processor, NFC, and more as shown in the leaked spec slide. Nevertheless, this is a great sign that the new PlayBook is even closer to launch.
A ways back we exclusively told you that RIM was working to release a BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ (not LTE) by April. We later saw some leaked specs on the model to further confirm it was 3G+. Now, we’ve gotten wind from our source that the PlayBook 3G+ has finally gone to production.
We’re not sure if Quanta Computer company is still the one manufacturing the PlayBook models. What we do know is April definitely sounds like it could be a solid release time-frame.
