Flexible displays and even flexible devices seem to be the future. What is a flexible display without an accompanying flexible battery? That’s what Professor Keon Jae Lee and his team at the Korean Advanced Institute Of Science And Technology have developed with their “high performance flexible all-solid-state battery.”
The battery is flexible, bendable, light and is printed on a thin film, making it an ideal candidate for “consumer electronics including rollable displays,” such as future tablets or smartphones. Perhaps we’ll see Research In Motion eventually investigate the possibilities of flexible devices?
Check out the video below of the flexible battery being manipulated and powering an a blue LED light. Professor Lee stated that “the advent of a high performance flexible thin film battery will accelerate the development of next-generation fully flexible electronic systems in combination with existing flexible components such as display, memory, and LED.”
