How To: Turn Swipe to Unlock Off on BlackBerry 10

As standard with BlackBerry 10, when the phone is locked you can perform a simple swipe up from the bottom of the screen to unlock. However, if your like me and you tend to carry your phone in your hand alot, this can lead to accidentally unlocking your device when you may not want to.

Fortunately in BlackBerry 10 there is a way to solve this issue. In the settings app, simply tap the Display option and you will see a toggle named Allow gestures when locked. By switching this toggle off it will stop you from accidentally unlocking the device.

To unlock your device with the swiping disabled, you will first need to click the power key at the top of the device, then you can swipe up to unlock as you would normally.

Now you’ll no longer accidentally unlock your phone whilst its in your hand.
