Twitter reported its Q2 2015 earnings this afternoon and beat analysts expectations in a few key areas. Revenue for the company was their big hit this quarter. Twitter brought in $502 million vs the expected $482 million, up over 60% from this time last year.
Monthly active users also increased this quarter to over 316 million. According to Twitter, roughly 12 million of those new users were through what they call SMS fast followers, so in reality the actual increase was about 2 million or to a total 304 monthly active users.
According to its latest numbers, Twitter is still very much a mobile-first and mobile-only platform for many. Over 80% of users consume content on Twitter on a mobile device, a very high, but expected figure.
Twitter will be Periscoping their conference call at 5pm EDT if you’re interested in checking it out later.
