One of Twitter most iconic features is being replaced, the company announced today. With a new update due today, Twitter is replacing its Favorites with Likes, and the star symbol it represented with hearts.
According to Twitter, since “hearts” have become popular on its other apps – Periscope and Vine, the social media giant wanted to keep one “common language” for their global community.

The new hearts will be available on Twitter for iOS, and Android, Twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and anywhere you see tweets online.
The move was made in order to help new users understand how to use these favoriting options more frequently.
“You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite. The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.”
The update has already started rolling out, so make sure you check your OS’ storefront to download it.
