U.S. artists are beginning to adopt the new international album release day of Friday. Actor-singer Tyrese Gibson’s latest album, “Black Rose,” was the number one seller in the week ending July 16th.

45 countries have adopted the new Friday album release date in an effort to make the music industry more globally unified as well as to reduce piracy.

Data from Nielsen Music showed Tyrese’s “Black Rose,” one of the inaugural Friday releases, moved 77,000 units in its debut.

Tyrese has so far released seven studio albums, beginning with a self-titled debut in 1998. Though, his rise to stardom stems from his roles in the notoriously popular “Fast & Furious” film series.
