Mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi has joined forces with an unusual partner, the taxi and private car service Uber. The duo seek to have Uber act as a mobile storefront for the new Mi Note smartphone in Singapore and Malaysia.
“Ordering a Mi Note follows the exact same process as calling for an Uber — you simply open the Uber app, use the slider at the bottom to select ‘Xiaomi’ (which shows Xiaomi-orange coloured Uber cars on the map equipped to deliver the new smartphone), and hit request,” Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra said in a Facebook post.
“Payment will be charged directly to the credit card tied to your Uber account and a Mi Note will be delivered to you within a few minutes. Pretty cool, right?,” Barra explained.
Xiaomi’s Mi Note packs a whopping 5.7-inch full HD screen, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera and 4MP front camera.
